Bottle greenhouse
For this project you will need:
1 plant pot
a 2 litre plastic drinks bottle
some compost (soil)
a broken pot or gravel
some herb seeds (see step 2)
a saucer
a spray water bottle

Put a layer of broken pot or gravel in the bottom of your plant pot to help excess water drain away. Then fill almost to the top with compost.

Sow your herb seeds thinly on the compost. You could choose basil, oregano, coriander or mint.

Sprinkle some more compost on top of the seeds, firm gently and spray with water. Then place your pot on a saucer on a windowsill.

Ask an adult to cut the bottom off of the drinks bottle and place it over your pot. It will keep your seeds nice and warm and help stop the compost from drying out.

When the seedlings emerge, remove the bottle and keep them well watered. The leaves will soon be ready to pick to add to your favourite herby recipes.
