Daffy pots

In the autumn, plant a daffodil in a pretty pot to flower in spring. These pots make great gifts.

For this project you will need:

acrylic paints and paintbrush
pencil and paper
terracotta pot and compost (soil)
broken pot or gravel
some narcissus daffodil bulbs

01

Draw an outline of a plant pot on your paper and sketch a simple spring garden design. You might include daffodils, primroses and bluebells.

02

Paint the design onto your pot using bright colours. Leave to dry.

03

Put a layer of broken pot or gravel in the bottom of your pot before adding the compost.

04

Plant some bulbs at 3 times their depth, 'pointy end' facing up. Make sure they do not touch each other.

05

Put your pots in a greenhouse, conservatory or on a porch windowsill (not in a heated room).

06

Water regularly to keep the compost just damp and wait for spring to come!
