Edible Schoolyard (USA)
The Edible Playground Project was inspired partly by the work of the Chez Panisse Foundation, and by Common Ground, who defined the importance of local distinctiveness.

The Chez Panisse Foundation set up the Edible Schoolyard in the USA. The project involves students in all aspects of farming the garden – along with preparing, serving and eating the food – as a means of awakening their senses and encouraging awareness and appreciation of the transformative values of nourishment, community, and stewardship of the land.

The Chez Panisse Foundation was set up by the pioneering chef, restaurateur and food activist Alice Waters, founder of the legendary Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California
