Sow in the ground
Broad beans – if you live in the South. Choose the right variety such as Aquadulce Claudia or Sutton; planted now, they are usually less plagued by blackfly than those sown in the spring and you should be eating them in the early summer
Peas – Feltham First and Metor are two of the varieties of hardy peas which can be sown during October and November
Lettuce – winter variety; may need cloche protection
