If you haven’t raised plants you can now sow the seeds for:
French beans – grow a quick-maturing variety and you’ll be harvesting in June. It is advisable to put plastic bottle cloches over the small plants
Sweetcorn – if you live in the South
Runner beans – when all danger of frost is passed
More lettuce and salads
Radishes
Beetroot – late in the month, to lift in October

In the greenhouse or polytunnel
Indoor cucumber plants and tomatoes – can now grow in their growing containers, if they’re not already there

Plant up courgette and tomato plants

Jobs
Earth up new potatoes (ie when the shoots have 20cm drawing up of soil around the stems of the plants) to prevent tubers going green
Strawberry plants or other fruit will appreciate a high-potash feed
Remove strawberry runners to keep plants strong
Keep hoeing and weeding
Put in support peas and beans
